The foods program at Coastal Learning Center Tuckerton is a very creative
and popular program for the students, as well as the staff. Under the teachings
of Ms. McGirr, the foods program is responsible for every ounce of food
consumed here at the school. Classes each have a day in which they go to the
kitchen and help in the preparation of lunch each day. With a varied schedule of
different foods, our students get to learn how to make their favorite lunches, as
well as put it all together and deliver them to the classrooms. Outside of lunch
prep, the students get to have fun with their foods time, as they prepare
different desserts, fun foods, and other creations that Ms. McGirr comes up with.
The students learn how to read recipes, measure ingredients, and put them all
together for a perfect end result. Everyone enjoys the food that comes out of
the kitchen, and the students get to see how all their favorite foods come to be.
