The Art Across the Curriculum program at CLC Atlantic
involves all the students in a way that gives them education
and creativity all at once. Our teachers integrate our
curriculum into the art program, bringing the students into a
world of colors and assorted materials to help them put into
reality the things they think of in their heads. Sketching, clay,
painting, abstract art, and drawing are artistic methods that
are taught to the students in order to show them different
ways of creating their own personal artwork. As you can see
in these various pictures, what the students come up with are
both colorful and original, showing us what our students are
capable of.
A plant collage and Perler bead people are just some of the creations to come out of the art across the curriculum program!

Our art across the curriculum program integrates the classroom curriculum with art projects that reflect what they have learned. This way, the students
can find creative ways to show what they have learned in the classroom. Check back to this page to see what the teachers & students come up with to
show off their artistic abilities as well as impress us all with their projects!
The social studies art project had students create their own self portrait. Using an overhead projector, the students
traced their outline and let their imagination fill in the blanks. The results were colorful, imaginative portraits that reflected
how the students viewed themselves.
Mr. Villec's art project had students create a floor plan of a room or building they know well, or make up their own "dream room." Using spatial relationships
and creating a color-coded legend, students turned out some interesting and colorful designs of places they know or hope to have in the future!
Ms. Mury's art project had students come up with an acrostic, a series of lines or verses in which the first, last, or other particular letters when taken in order
spell out a word, phrase, etc. Students used their names to come up with acrostics that describe themselves. Along with colors and pictures, these creations
help the students express themselves for all to see.
The School Violence Prevention Week Poster Contest is an annual event at our school. Students are encouraged to create their own anti-violence
poster that talks about managing anger effectively, resolving conflicts peacefully, and the problem of bullying. The students come up with some interesting
ideas for their posters and hope to win the prize as BEST of their homeroom!
Ms. Thomas is having the students create an abstract self-portrait. This project will have students draw a realistic self-portrait and they will draw the other
side of their self-portrait abstractly by drawing who they think they are, not what they look like, using symbols, shapes, and objects.
Mr. Villec's math classes have learned the ancient art of cribbage. Cribbage, or crib, is a card game traditionally for two players, but commonly played with
three, four or more, that involves playing and grouping cards in combinations which gain points. Students were asked to create their OWN cribbage boards
to be used in their math classes or during their own free time.
Ms. Mury's language arts class has been learning a lot about different types of literature. One of these types is poetry, which uses descriptive words to put
the reader into the mind of the writer. She had the students construct poems based on a vegetable on their choice. This vegetable poem was then
transferred onto a watercolor creation of their own. The students painted their vegetable and gave it a personality to match their poem. It was a fun exercise
in creativity and language arts!
