ENVIRONMENT

Coastal Learning Center provides an environment that promotes positive student growth academically, emotionally,
and socially. A system of behavior management utilizes the earning of points, days, and levels to help students
succeed on a daily basis. Individual responsibility is emphasized.

Our goal is to provide a comprehensive, challenging, individualized program that fosters student responsibility.

STAFF

The staff includes administrators, teachers, teacher assistants, school psychologist, social workers, and a CPI trained
support staff. Our staff works together to support our students who present special challenges in meeting their diverse
needs.

Our counselors address sensitive issues with our students and assist them in their transition from school to work,
college, and advanced training.

COMPUTER LAB

The computer lab keeps students abreast of the current computer  technology. Using the latest computer software
coupled with teacher support, students have the opportunity to learn a wide-range of skills needed in an ever
changing world.

ATHLETICS

The athletic program includes power lifting, softball, basketball, and bowling, Our athletes compete in both on-site
and off-site with other Coastal Learning Center campuses and well as other private schools. Doing your personal best
is emphasized and this enhances student's self esteem and social skills.

PRACTICAL ARTS

Students learn the basics of good nutrition, menu planning, and food preparation. Four students at a time go to the
practical arts kitchen. They plan and prepare simple, nutritious meals that are served family style. They also learn how
to set a table properly and practice good manners. In the past, a number of our students have attended and
graduated from culinary programs and schools.

EXTENDED SCHOOL YEAR (ESY)

This 6-week program strives to combine fun and academics to support student achievement. The program's goal is to
ensure that students to not lose academic and social skills achieved during the regular school year.
EMPLOYMENT ORIENTATION ON-CAMPUS

EMPLOYMENT ORIENTATION OFF-CAMPUS

High school seniors and juniors will be afforded the opportunity to work off-campus as part of the work study program.
Students must be on the upper levels of the behavior management system and display proper social skills.

FIELD TRIP PROGRAM

trips that reflect on their academic instruction.
