*Hands-on Preparation
*Table Setting
*Ethnic Cooking
*Etiquette
*Various Cooking Techniques
*Following Recipes and Instructions
Students come to the class and show their creativity by cooking and
preparing some of their favorite meals and desserts. They learn to work with
others as a team in an environment that simulates what it is like working in
kitchens and restaurants in the food industry.

Students come encouraged to bring some of their own ideas and interests
into the program to share with others. Their diverse backgrounds offer them
and opportunity to prepare and serve foods reflecting their own cultural
heritage.
Throughout the seasons and holidays, the Practical Arts Room changes from baking
holiday treats to hosting BBQ’s outside for all to enjoy.

The Practical Arts experience has been incorporated into the Employment Orientation
Program. This is a paid work opportunity in which the students with the Practical Arts
instructor to assist with the preparation of student lunches.
