The Morganville Campus was
established in 1977 and offers
programs for students with behavioral
disabilities. The students range in age
from 10-18 and come from Monmouth,
Hudson and Somerset counties. We
have a dedicated staff of full-time
professionals including administrators,
teachers, teacher assistants, school
psychologist, social workers, and
support staff, that creates a low
student/staff ratio. We work together
as a team, believing "you are only as
strong as the weakest link" and place a
great deal of emphasis on creating a
home-like atmosphere and instilling a
positive value system. Older students
help, working closely with younger
students, tutoring them and teaching
them how to be responsible while
learning more about responsibility
themselves.
Our students present special
challenges in meeting their diverse
academic, vocational and social needs.
Teacher assistants are assigned to
help them focus on classroom
instruction and activities. We use a
system of behavior management that
encourages the earning of points, days
and levels and helps our students to
succeed educationally, socially, and
emotionally.
Softball is one of the sports that we
compete in interscholastically.
At Morganville, "Home of the Warriors",
our sports program is second to none.
We believe in playing together, losing
together, and winning together. The
open communication and trust between
students and faculty helps us win
almost everything. We not only
participate in the Big Coast Athletic
League, but we have created a
flag-football league within our campus
that has a playoff game called "The
Chicken Bowl" where the winning team
gets treated to a dinner out. Although
we find all of our opponents
challenging, our most popular games
are the ones where the students play
against faculty - this gives everyone a
chance to relate on an equal level and
brings us closer as a group.
We also get a chance to travel beyond
the campus to places like the Vietnam
War Memorial - Holmdel, NJ, the
American Heart Association, and the
Liberty Science Center. We also
arrange visits to a NJ colleges, such as
Kean College and Brookdale, to
introduce our students to the next level
of education
